Parents and guardians of students attending Ecole Mother D'Youville School are automatically members of the school council. We urge parents to take an active role on school council to continue its growth and development. School Council is an advisory body to the school administration and Board of Trustees.
For more information please consult the STAR School Council Handbook here.
Meetings will run the third Tuesday of the month from 7:00 – 9:00 pm. Everyone is always welcome to attend. Some great reasons to join school council are:
- parental involvement boosts student achievement
- school council strives to create a positive and caring atmosphere in the school
- to be informed of your school's programs and offerings
- to model participation and volunteer opportunities
- to be involved in decisions in your child's education
- to share your skills, talents and knowledge with the school community:

Volunteering
Volunteers are people from all walks of life, whose talents and experience add an extra dimension to schools. By supporting the work of staff at our school, parents and community members engage in the school community and gain new skills.
WAYS TO HELP
Volunteers don’t replace staff, but they are an important part of the school community and can provide support in a variety of ways. As a volunteer, you may assist staff:
in the classroom
in the library with shelving, inventory, filing, and book fairs
with student activities such as field trips and extracurricular events
Some parents also choose to get involved by joining School Council or the fundraising society.
Parents or community members wishing to volunteer at MDY must complete the following forms and return them to the office:
